<SUNBIGHT> – In an exclusive email from Journalist/Human rights defender, Mr Chima Onyekachi (Esq) demanding justice for Late Chief Dike Patrick and his son Mr. Freeman Chisom Patrick.
According to the email, Mr Freeman Chisom Patrick is a pro-Biafra activist who organised a peaceful demonstration on the 1st of March 2016 at Banana junction Amaifeke-Orlu in Imo state calling attention to the marginalization and a referendum to be organised for Indigenous Biafrans.
The following day after the protest, his family house was invaded by a combined team of the Nigerian secret security service and military who shot to death his father Chief Dike Patrick, injuring several family members including Freeman Chisom who was left in critical condition.
Continuing, the human rights defender/ journalist is demanding that justice must be served to those responsible for the extra-judicial killing of late Chief Dike Patrick and compensation.
Also, he demanded for an immediate termination of the search and proposed prosecution of Mr Freeman Chisom Patrick.
Chima Onyekachi stated that the activities carried out by Freeman Chisom as a pro-Biafra activist is legal and binding by international law and instruments.
In conclusion, he emphasized that the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Article 1 states that “Indigenous peoples have the right to the full enjoyment, as a collective or as individuals, of all human rights and fundamental freedoms as recognized in the Charter of the United Nations, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and international human rights law.”■
