NOLLYWOOD actress, Didi Ekanem, has advised women to stop depending on men for money, but strife for their own money instead.
The actress expressed that in a recent interview, explaining the importance for women to work hard to make their own money so as to become less dependent on men.
She expressed her delight in her efforts to sustain her living in comfort and within her earnings.
Though, the actress had last year suffered a huge setback when she lost her stock in a fire incident at her house.
Ekanem said, “It is important for a woman to work for her money. There is no point for any woman to depend on a man for money. I don’t know how to ask for favours and I refuse to ask men for money. I am happy that my money sustains me. It has helped me to live within my means”
“It all boils down to the need to work hard and make one’s money. Some persons were asking why I cried and put up pictures (of the burnt house) on Instagram.
“They said I was chasing clout. But, one week after, I got a new apartment, and some people started talking again. I then said to myself, ‘My house got burnt, not my account balance’. It was easy for me to come out of it because I had savings.”
“I have just opened a store, and I am working on my new collection. I have also started a food business. These are things I have always loved. I love cooking and feeding people. We are in the social media era where people can easily monetise their passion.
“Becoming a fashion designer is not something I had always thought of. I needed to make extra money for myself. Anything you see me do, it is because I have passion for it. I went into fashion designing because it is something I enjoy doing. It was not easy because I had to go to school to learn the basics and have a better understanding of what it takes to become a fashion designer.”
“I love to create videos because I am a very funny person ‘when I am inside of me’. I just felt my fans needed to see my funny side. I can be very serious with work but there is another side of me that is very funny.”■

Report By Onyekachi Aduruze
VETERAN nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw, lamented over the continuous scarcity of premium motor spirit (petrol) in Nigeria.
The actress on Wednesday fired shot at President Muhammadu Buhari who also doubles as the Minister for petroleum, via her verified Instagram page.
She called on the citizens of the country to take measures that will protect the interests of the future generations.
Henshaw stated that the Nigerian President should have taken priorty in solving the lingering fuel scarcity instead of embarking on his rountine medical trip to United Kingdom.
“It is so shameful and with all due respect; we have Mr President who doubles as the petroleum minister has jetted out to look after himself, nobody cares and we are just quiet. We are going to petrol stations fighting ourselves for a product that is not even there and we do not even know when it is going to come. Nigerians, it is time we take our destiny in our hands.
Go and get your PVCs. Stop listening to people that tell you that it does not matter or your vote does not count. If it doesn’t count they will not buy your votes. They will not steal people’s PVCs and use them. We cannot continue like this, things are too bad. What are we going outside to do? You go outside there is no petrol, you stay at home there is no light. What is going on? Enough of the prayers. Let us just do what needs to be done. God is not going to come down from heaven and do what we are supposed to do.
This country is so prosperous but we are taking all sorts of things from people who we elected to represent us and they are carrying on like they don’t care. No heads have rolled for the bad petrol that came in. Nothing ever happens, no consequences whatsoever. But we are there managing. We manage until we enter the grave. I’m done.”■
